Fiber Art Children

Fiber Art

Fabrics of all colors and textures can be layered and stitched together to make winning combinations, from the practical to the purely expressive. Create one-of-a-kind wearables to infuse your wardrobe with personality (knitting, silk painting, free style embroidery), or soften up your décor (stuffies, weaving, macramé).

Students will chose three from the options listed below.

Weaving – small tapestry for the wall on a handloom using at least four different stitches.
Knitting- basic neck scarf.
Stuffies- cutting out and stitching your own "stuffie" based on your original sketch and then adding embellishments like basic embroidery, sewing on buttons and trims.
Silk Painting- drawing with gutta resist on a silk scarf and then painting on the silk with dye.
Macramé- creating a wall piece based on a square knot and "hitching".
Free Style Embroidery - this is mostly hand sewing. Creating layers of texture, colors and patterns with fabric, batting, beads, embroidery floss, buttons and wire.
